I have just begun to wear, pointe shoes for the first time today
How do I know if I bought a soft or medium grip handle
and yes they hurt, they do still more
Or is it time to get used to the feeling?

Of course, you are for them too. But in the meantime you can try to put lamb's wool, and some to get rid of any discomfort. Other things you can do is ..
- Buy ouch pouch (with the line of dance)

In telling the shoe somewhere on the floor to the bottom, for example, in shoes Ghrisko where it says the size should be a letter, M = M = Mediu hard, and so on.
